Before we start this article, let us warn you beforehand – please mentally prepare yourself for the amount of egg puns incoming. It’s going to be egg-ceedingly annoying.
A few weeks ago, we wrote about The Brunch Movement and its uprising – brunch has replaced lunch for many of us simply because it’s well, cooler. We touched on eggs being a crowd favorite, but we realized one short paragraph wasn’t enough. It’s high time we give you the rundown of the many different ways to have your eggs, and odds are you’ll be able to find all of these dishes/combinations at any hipster, artsy cafe.
1 | Scrambled Eggs
The creamier the eggs, the more likely we are to take a picture. The best combination in the world is to have fluffy scrambled eggs on top of avocado and toast – simply egg-ceptional (no we’re not stopping anytime soon).
2 | Poached Eggs
Probably the most trendy of the bunch (or brunch, see what we did there lol ok we’ll stop), there are countless pictures and videos on social media of foodies bursting their egg yolk causing yellow, runny goodness all over the plate. Eggs benedict is also probably the most popular Singaporean breakfast dish now, overtaking kaya toast. Okay we might be egg-xaggerating.
3 | Sunny Side Up
A classic, but old is gold. Or yellow in this case. Also relatively easy to make at home, so save your money and do it yourself. And then take a picture and pretend like it’s some sort of artisanal cafe recipe.
4 | Egg Shakshuka
New to the scene, shakshuka is a Tunisian dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce. Very exotic in comparison to the other items of the list, the shakshouka is catching on quick. Watch out eggs benedict.
5 | Hard-boiled Eggs
In the olden days, the only time we would have hard-boiled eggs is when it’s in our Laksa or Mee Siam. Today however, it’s made a name for itself in the world of salads. Good on you, hard-boiled eggs. Know your worth.
