Name: Katherine Desbaillets
Company Name: SaladStop!
Designation: Co-founder & Director
Tell us about what you do today and how you got to this position.
My brother (Adrien) and father (Daniel) started SaladStop! In 2009 and I joined the company in 2011. Before joining SaladStop! I was a co-owner of a restaurant in Bangkok called Café Tartine that I started in 2007.
What was your biggest business challenge and how did you overcome it?
Working within a family set-up. We set very clear roles and responsibilities for each and made sure that we discussed all major decisions with each other.
Have you faced challenges as a woman in your industry?
No I have not.
Tell us about balancing life and work?
My husband joined SaladStop! A few months back and we make it a point to leave the office at least 3 times a week before 7 pm. This gives us some time to go running at the Mc Ritchie and cook a warm meal. We wake up very early so are normally in bed by 10 pm. I have a packed schedule as I mostly get up at 5 am to go train horses at the polo club. I have my horses there as well that I compete on an international level in Europe and qualified for the London Olympics (horses are my second job before sunrise!!!)
What’s your best advice for women starting out on their career path?
To be professional and not emotional in the workplace. Strive to be the best you can be. Also, embrace change because you learn from every situation. With big risks come greater rewards and the chance to make a difference.
