SAVOUR is slowly becoming the pinnacle of food festivals in Singapore. The festival’s stellar line-up of curated restaurants and dishes from its first edition of SAVOUR gourmet in May has left foodies in Singapore asking for more.
Transforming Bayfront Avenue into a gourmet village, SAVOUR Wines returned bigger and better, promising a gastronomic experience for everyone to enjoy! Missed the event? Here’s a recap of the festival highlights:
1 Wine Masterclasses
As the festival name suggests, SAVOUR Wines brings together over 400 labels of specially curated wines from South America, California, Australia, Spain, Argentina and more. Whether you are a self-professed wine connoisseur or slowly exploring the world of wines, SAVOUR wines held wine tastings that were extremely affordable : $15 for 10 wine tastings!
2 Cheese Room
What’s a wine festival without some good cheese to pair with it? SAVOUR’s famed Cheese Room brought together over 200 types of cheeses from all over the world from flavoured Cheddar (think Mango & Ginger Cheddar or Jalapeno infused Cheddar) to Landana.
The cheeses were also packed conveniently to be brought home and enjoyed over romantic Friday movie nights!
3 Gourmet Village
The Gourmet Village hosted the second semi-finals of the DBS Live Your Dreams initiative, with a lineup of local culinary superstars from The Study, Stellar at 1-Altitude, Restaurant Ember, Bird Bird, Mitzo, Three Buns, Angela May Food Chapters, The East Bureau and The Rabbit Stash.
One thing worth noting is that the festival has standardized the prices of the food to $6 and $12, so it’s the perfect opportunity to taste everything without breaking the bank. We tried some of the dishes the gourmet village had to offer and boy, were they good.
“Baby Huey” by Three Buns | The Baby Huey was a heavyweight in flavor, with a 100g Aged beef patty topped with cheese, ketchup, pickles and spiced mayo. Though it could be a tad too sour for some, the spiced mayo complemented the beef perfectly.
“Poached Sweet Prawns” by Xperience Restaurant, SO Sofitel | Sweet, juicy prawns tossed in a light, tangy Ponzu Dressing and garnished with Bonito flakes for some umami, while the addition of Granny Smith & Baby Radish Capaccio provided a sharp, tart crunch.
“Rhuppleberry Softie Pie” by Bird Bird | Probably our favourite dessert from SAVOUR, the Rhuppleberry Softie Pie is THE sidekick everyone needs on a hot day in sunny Singapore. A rhubarb-apple-strawberry cobbler provides the base for a deliciously smooth brown butter soft serve, while crunchy Kataifi pastry added a rich, buttery texture to each bite.
“Chocolate Liqueur Sesame Dumpling” by Mitzo | Yet another standout dessert, Mitzo gave the traditional deep-fried sesame dumpling a boost by injecting Chocolate Liqueur -which sat atop a delicious serving of Haagen Dazs ice-cream. What we particularly like was the side garnish of chocolate crumbs and sultanas, elevating the dish with varying textures and flavours.
With the second edition of SAVOUR coming to a close, we are excited to see what SAVOUR Christmas brings in November, where the finals of the DBS Live Your Dream will take place. Don’t worry about us, we’ll definitely be dreaming about this!
