An elegant combination of tradition and modern design, the restaurant Zafferano impresses with creativity, style, and plenty of true passion. Discover how Italian tradition is recreated with the views of Marina Bay.
Located on Collyer Quay, Zafferano is Italian fine dining at its best. Headed by chef Marco Guccio, the restaurant’s entire menu is inspired by the traditional Italian fare of Guccio’s provenance.
Zafferano | The Expression of Italian Roots
“When I was born, I grew up with my mama and grandmother in the kitchen”, says chef Guccio. “What we want the diner to get is the authentic Italian cuisine.”
Although the roots of the restaurant are truly Italian, Zafferano appeals not only to European tastes, but also refined Asian gourmets. Overlooking Marina Bay and MBS, the restaurant has a truly charming site on the 43rd floor.
“We want to offer a very unique view of the city”, says Paolo Colzani, who is the restaurant manager at Zafferano. “What normally makes really authentic Italian cuisine in my mind is the history behind the chef and how well he expresses his roots through the dishes”.
Zafferano | Fresh Produce with Attention to Detail
Chef Guccio makes a point of using only the very freshest products, all of which is sourced from different and hand-selected artisans and growers from all over Italy.
“When I cook, everything is from my heart – everything is family style. I want to give to the guests what my mom used to give to me.” Chef Guccio honestly lives by the motto that food is an experience. Besides a creative presentation, rich ingredients, and perfect cooking techniques, a dish also needs and carries a sense of history with it. That’s what Zafferano wants its guests to experience.
Zafferano | Tradition and Modernity
While each item on the menu is true to the Italian roots, the interior of the restaurant itself is very modern and extremely stylish. Floating above the bar is a circular structure that is surrounded with low lights and mirrors. Evoking a tantalising effect, the food however is very grounding, humbling, and exquisite.
“Every single persons who walks inside this restaurant from every single different walk of life, deserve to have an unforgettable experience with us. That’s why we are here. We have to make it special to them”, reminds Colzani.
The huge glass window front offers the best the CBD has to offer, while the open kitchen concept invites the guests to get first hand insights into traditional Italian cooking.
Zafferano | Variety of Flavour
Browsing through their menu, one will discover both antipasti from the land and the sea, including Scallop Carpaccio, Foie Gras, fresh Burrata, and exclusive Kristal Gold Caviar. However, following the Italian tradition, customers are encouraged to select their ‘firsts’ and ‘second’, as the Mediterranean cuisine comes in courses. One can also opt for a five-course tasting menu that presents a selection of the best the restaurant has to offer. Wine lovers will enjoy an especially selected and curated wine menu, including a customised wine pairing selection.
